embers

embers

embers

it would be nice
not to be bent
                      like this tree
carrying the curve of the hill

the wind does it
or someone in childhood
who plants fear in our roots

it would be nice
to disappear
into a woman's heart

dancing can do it
until we call for more wine
to fuel our crowded feet

no sense wanting
what wasn't made or graced
it's just i can't help noticing
this old world growing older

  2. Such a tender expose of the aging process, the human condition which means we all long for youth, love, wanting what wasn't made.

Happy New Year, Ed. I hope it is a good one for poetry.

  3. Hey ed

great to see you! and hearing you
and reading you all at once !!!
with jack frost and the seeming permanence of a north European winter
effecting the density of my bones and eventually my personality
I could feel this with added significance.

    best, arron

  4. Arrgh!!! just wrote you a nice note and it disappeared, but I know you are worth at least two nice notes!!!Sitting in Mexico and reading my Mexico how great is that!!!! The stanza with the dancing is so close to my heart because my patio is the place where time ceases to exist and we dance until the wine threatens injury which doesn't take long these days...lol. Cant tell you how good it is to see you crawling the halls again. Miss and Love you!
